California Energy
The Dems finally have a new Energy Policy, and I'm not talking about Calif's
realization that they are going to have to pay the market price for energy like the rest
of US. (The Old Clinton Plan, you might remember, was to sell off the Navy's Strategic Oil
Supply to New England liberals and force western states to sell Calif energy at reduced
rates.)
Experts of the sound bite, they say "We can't drill our way out of this" using
our natural resources in desolate northern Alaska. Sen Daschle says the solution is
expected to come from Detroit (or is it Tokyo) in the form of more efficient (aka smaller)
automobiles. Cars are already so small the Drive-Ins had to close because you can't have
an accident in the back seat any more.
The Dems aren't alone in their solution to the Calif energy problems. Mexican Prez Vicente
Fox thinks that Mexico, Canada and the USA should create a NAFTA-type commission to come
up with solutions. Why would they want to take oil from a near 3rd world country but
protect a barren section near the Arctic Circle from drilling is a mystery?
Do they think Mexican oil grows on trees? Undoubtedly, a new commission could tell
Californians where to set their thermostats and when they were allowed to use their AC---
just like NAFTA tells them Mexican trucks will drive on their highways.
I'll tell you one thing I'm tired of. Those well meaning talk show hosts who blame the
environmental whackos for intimidating the voters of Calif. Give me a break. They voted
overwhelming for the author of Earth in the Balance. The voters are environmental whackos
and their government reflects their collective political/environmental beliefs. They are
reaping what they sowed.

OFF-SHORE OIL
The "sinking" of a large South American off-shore oil rig has received
suspiciously little coverage. The oil slick has scarcely been mentioned. We may never know
how it compares with the Exxon Valdez environmental disaster? No comment, says the mass
media. They still have the public thinking that the Valdez was the biggest ever.
QUESTION OF THE DAY
We have long been told that off shore drilling is safer and cleaner than drilling and
transporting via tanker. What's so different about this lost rig? It's too obvious to
mention, but I will any way. It wasn't owned by one of the giant evil oil companies. It
was government-owned rig. When a private company screws up, they have to answer to the
government. When the government screws up, to whom do they answer?
THINGS THAT MAKE YOU GO, "Hmmm in the night"
Can't be sure it's a result of the West Coast power troubles, maybe collateral damage, but
Boeing has given notice that they are moving their HQ from Seattle. If it were just the HQ
moving, as they're saying, you'd expect them to move to a center of commerce, like NYC or
to Boston to rub elbows with Harvard and MIT intellectuals? But they aren't in the
running. Only Chgo, Denver and Dallas are being considered. What do these cities have that
the former do not? The newest and biggest commercial airports in the nation---all
centrally located. Why is that important for a HQ? That is the question.
BOOB TUBE
Did you see Sen Kerrey (D-MA) on TV last Sunday? He was lecturing his counterpart from
Alaska on how/why to protect
the Alaskan wilderness. He doesn't think we need to get oil from the Arctic Circle when
New England can get all it wants from the Strategic Naval Reserve.
Here's another beauty. Kerrey says Alaskan oil would not help the California energy
shortage because they get only 1% of their energy from oil. Ignoring the
suspiciously low figure, this boob refuses to acknowledge that all forms of energy are
interconnected. When they draw the water levels down in Washington State to supply
California with hydroelectric power,
the cost of natural gas goes up in Oregon due to the natural forces of the market place.
Why are liberals too set in their ways to accept facts into their closed minds?
