Subject: The JMF Letter April 13th...

Rain... rain... don't go away. Makes for such a productive day.

Herbie came and cut the grass for the first time this year and season. That was Tuesday. He could come back today. Every thing is sooooo green and lush-- and so many "greens." How many greens are there: 256... thousands... millions of different greens...? I'll set the monitor of my mind and see just how much greenness there is: blue and yellow green, emerald, verd antique, verdigris, malachite, beryl, aquamarine, absinthe, crème de menthe, terre verte, verditer, verdine, verdure; viridity, viridescence; verditure, lime, glaucous, green as grass, pea green, grass green, apple green, sea green, olive green, bottle green,
and of course, the color of money....

You can't get there (down there) from here. Oh yeah. Watch!

So, who was Vilfredo Pareto...?

He was born in Paris on July 15, 1848, and died in 1923, in Geneva. Pareto was an Italian economist and sociologist, known for his theory on mass and elite interaction as well as for his application of mathematics to economic analysis.

Pareto's first work, Cours d'Économie Politique (1896–97), included his famous but much-criticized law of income distribution, in which Pareto attempted to prove that the distribution of incomes and wealth in society is not random and that a consistent pattern appears throughout history, in all parts of the world and in all societies.

This became known as Pareto's Law: "The law ofthe trivial many and the critical few." You'll recognize it as the 80/20 Rule....

Eventually, believing there were problems that economics could not solve, Pareto turned to sociology, writing what he considered his greatest work, Trattato di sociologia generale (1916; Mind and Society).Persons of superior ability, Pareto
argued, actively seek to confirm and aggrandize their position. Thus social classes are formed. In an effort to rise into the elite of the upper strata, privileged members of the lower-class groups continually strive to use their abilities and thus improve them; the opposite tendency obtains among the elite. As a result, the best-equipped persons from the lower class rise to challenge the
position of the upper-class elite. There thus occurs a "circulation of elites." Because of his theory of the superiority of the elite, Pareto sometimes has been associated with fascism.

Fascism.... Scary. Centralization of authority under a dictator, stringent socioeconomic controls, suppression of the opposition and censorship, and typically a policy of belligerent nationalism even racism.

Did I say "Scary"...?

Do you enjoy being scared-- you know Blair Witch, Freddy Kruger, ghost stories 'round the campfire scared...?

Fun, huh...? Okay, try this "scary" question:

Is Network Marketing inherently "Fascist"...?

Uh oh....

Well..., do MLM companies have persons of superior ability who "actively seek to confirmand aggrandize their position"...?

Upline.... Downline: Kinda' like "social classes"?

Do "privileged members of the lower-class groups [i.e.,; downline] continually strive to use their abilities and thus improve them"...?

Is there a "circulation of elites" in Network Marketing...?

Are we evidence of the 80/20 Rule...?

I don't do "political."  I'm not really able to distinguish between an Anarchist and a Fascist, although I enjoy hearing smart people tell me all about it-- and them. But I'm a Big fan of  Pareto's 80/20 Law.

80 percent of Network Marketers don't earn a thing. You know that one. That leaves 20 percent who do.

80 percent of them don't earn anything that amounts to much of anything. You know that one, too-- yes?

And 80 percent of those folks left, still don't  REALLY qualify as the "elite" do they...?

Starting with 1000 Network Marketers. 800 are gone in round one. Round two leaves 40 and by the third 80/20 there are eight. One more X 0.2 = 1.6. So, rounding-off the final round, out of 1000 people who come into Network Marketing, two are gonna' cut it, make it far enough up the comp plan to be said to truly be the Network Marketing "elite"....

(Technical term coming up.)

That sucks!

Human nature...? Just the way the cookie crumbles...? That's life...?

Nah.... I don't buy it (even as a wholesale consumer...)

As the great philosopher of communications, Atandt once declared, "The System IS the Solution."  (AT&T by the way :-)

IMnsHO, the "problem" here (in Network Marketing) is that the "How To" do this business taught for so long by so many does
Not Work for somewhere between 992 and 998 out of 1000 folks who begin Networking.

And I say, IF you are smart and have a good heart, you're going to want to do something about that.

No, not cock-eyed altruism.. More Ayn Rand's "Virtue of Selfishness."

I mean, what would happen to your Network Organization's total productivity (i.e., your check) if you could raise up say 20 or even 10 percent of those "lower class" downline people? Hey, 10 percent of 990-something is 99 people. What if 99 more people were hitting that grand or two a month for their "part time" effort...? Or even half that...?

Whoa! JMF Socialist.

Nope. Not a bone of same in my body! It's just that after years of trying most times I think I  find Network Marketers DON'T get what they need. And that is a system of "How To" that embraces most all personal styles, leaves plenty of room for "My Way" (no matter what that way is), has Integrity-- in both its structure and its implementation, Honors people's Values and is
founded and grounded in Vision.

These things I KNOW:

Network Marketing IS all about Relationships, Friendships, Partnerships and Leadership.

Because this is so...,

Your Network Marketing business will only grow as Straight, as Big and as Fast as You do.

Because this is so...,

The Foundation of Your Success in Network Marketing is Your Own and Your People's Personal Growth and Development.

And because These Things are so, You Must Base Your Network Marketing business on Values and Vision and You Must Learn to Speak and Listen More and Better, and you must put this and these into Action every day you work Your Business... But only if you want to.

That and those are the things that will cut-- nay, SLASH-- into the 80 percent and have More of Them ( Us ) Succeed Better.

And the more of Them that Succeed, the Greater, in all areas of Your Life You will BE.

And the ONLY way I know to accomplish this is through Partnership and Community....

_____________

I was on a TeleConference the other day with some what I'll call "Power Players" in Network Marketing. They spoke of million-dollar deals, big companies, heavy hitters and the things that concern them.

For the first time, I didn't Listen with animosity or critical, judgmental ears. I just Listened. I  realized there's a place for them and theirs in Network Marketing-- even a BIG place. It is simply NOT a place I have any interest in being. I am interested in the 80 percent of the 80 percent of the 80 percent. Those top two-percenters in this business neither need or want me and mine-- nor  honestly I them and theirs. They're set. They're  "successful." And as the Aussies say, "Good on  ya' mate."

My "Mates" are the rest of the people. Of course, I know Smiling and Dialing works. And Throw 'em up against the wall and see who sticks, is and always will be one way to build a business. It works fine. Just ain't what I want to do. Just isn't what 98 percent of You can do, either.

Get Rich Slow. It's not about the "time" it takes to be successful. It's about The Process.

I remember a long-ago Hugh Prather passage where he realized that when he went to the   Post Office all it was for him was get there and mail the letters. Then one day, he decided to  relax and enjoy the trip to the Post Office itself.

Both get the mail mailed....

I Appreciate You— John
