Can you accept donations by PayPal? ...or by e-Gold? These are 2 great ways to send money over the internet. It might allow you to expand the reach of your appeal. PayPal is only a year old and already has 4 million users. About 3-4 weeks ago, PayPal expanded its services outside the US to 26 other countries, including Canada. PayPal allows you to link your credit card to the PayPal account and order a payment sent to someone by email. Then a charge is made to your credit card for the amount. On the other end, the recipient receives an email message informing him that someone has sent him money by email, with a clickable link that takes you to PayPal to "pick it up." Once the funds are received in your PayPal account, you may either spend them via PayPal to someone else, withdraw them by electronic funds transfer or request a check be mailed to you - all instructions on the web. I am not familiar with how the currency exchange takes place or if the exchange rates are good, but there are no fees for the credit card transactions or the direct deposits.
e-Gold works similarly, but you use your credit card to buy the e-gold to fund your account and then you wire the gold to the chosen recipient and there is no currency exchange in an international transaction this way. When you use either of these, you can place a "button" on your web page that allows people to pay you (donate to you) immediately, so it allows a more impulsive giving and takes much less effort/time than writing a check and mailing it. Please consider it - I highly encourage it. I will send you $5 US for a starter amount - the email will have a link in it that will take you to a "sign-up" page. I will donate $95 US later through PayPal, once you are signed up.
I will be pasting in a payment matrix below in html that I use for receiving payments for merchandise I auction off on eBay to show you how I do it. Feel free to use this payment matrix if you feel it is appropriate for you. I hope it shows up in your email. If not, you should be able to paste the html text into a browser page and have it show up that way. I will also attach it as a web page, in case the other methods don't work.
