Celebration and Unveiling of $$10's and $$20's
I know many of you will be thinking you just received an update on Salt Spring
Currency, but there have been so many developments in the last 2 weeks that we
thought a further update was in order.
We are now able to confirm Friday, March 8th as the date for the official
release date for the new currency and we will be having a celebration (party) on
that evening at Artspring at 8:00 P.M., (Admission by Donation). The program
will be festive, with music, comedy, and exciting information on the future of
the Foundation.
Highlights will include:
An announcement of the artwork for the $$50 and $$100 bills.
Robert Bateman will be present to unveil which one of his paintings will be on
the back of the $$100 and to discuss the reasons this painting was chosen..
Andrew McTaggart from Adlertech International. He will be flying in from Toronto
to explain the sophisticated security features of the new $$10 and $$20. Our
currency will have the highest security of any currency in the world. (Adlertech
has an older version of their technology in the Euro which has just recently
gone into circulation.)
Entertainment by local performers ( To Be Announced by February 24th)
An accounting of the Foundations success since its inception, current status,
and plans for the future.
Explanations of the design elements and features of the new bills.
An exhibit of artwork by Birgit Bateman. This begins at Artspring on March 8th,
and all those attending our celebration are welcome to view it from 7:00 P.M. to
8:00 P.M.
Copies of the artwork on the $$10, $$20, $$50, and $$100, as well as originals
that were used on the $$2 and $$5 and all original Pen and Ink drawings of all
historical figures will be on display. As well, all artists will be present and
should be available to sign copies of bills or collector sets produced to date.
Uncirculated $$10's and $$20's will be available for exchange ( Bring lottsa
Canadian cash, eh!)
Announcement and details of our latest initiative, "Makin The Change"
Announcements about our plans to spend the profits.
Explanation of how current holders of Collector Sets will be able to exchange
the set they have for a set with lower serial numbers (at no charge) . This will
allow for matching serial numbers on larger denominations that may not be
printed in numbers as high as the serial numbers of existing sets.
Hear details about a major magazine article featuring Salt Spring Island
Currency as well as a planned joint venture with Adlertech International to take
Salt Spring Dollars beyond our Island.
.....and much more.
In closing, our goal is to fill Artspring for this event, so please help by
letting everyone know about this exciting celebration. Remember, admission is by
donation so there will be no advance ticket sales.
If any of you have E-mail lists, please circulate this message for us and look
for a major article in The Barnacle, Tuesday, March 5th.

THE UNIVERSAL POLITICAL AGENDA
1) "be nice to insiders"; 2) "be nasty to outsiders"; 3) "cheat whenever
possible".
Under the third rule we find the intricate deception whereby plants and animals
evade predators, capture prey, secure sexual services -- and in the case of Homo
Sapiens, attain public office. [ DARK NATURE: A Natural History of Evil, by
