Chris Laurin, a St. Matthew High School student from Orleans, Ontario was wrongfully suspended on Tuesday, March 26th, 2002 because the policy patsies permitted the dog's whiff to over-rule the student's words. Chris's actions suggest to me that he is choosing not to be a victim of thoughtlessness but rather a common sense advocate. Has the dark events of September 11th, 2001 conditioned us to give up our rights and freedoms in the perceived pursuit of 'safety?' Has common sense gone to the dogs since September 11th, 2001? Are canine adjudicators qualified to assess human guilt?  Is canine adjudication intended to intimidate? Are the police knowingly or unknowingly advancing the agenda of the New World Order by routinely executing school lockdowns? Should zero-tolerance continue to be the preferred weapon in the War On Drugs when marijuana is commonly being prescribed as the optimal medicine to relieve the pain and suffering of our fellow-citizens who are sick and/or diseased? Does the Ontario Government's 'Safe Schools Policy' have a hidden agenda to make it safe for the New World Order to instil a 'non-thinking' approach and attitude so that the next generation of youth will no longer question and no longer think?  Is this 'Reefer Madness' of the 20th Century revisited in this 21st Century? Is illegal marijuana giving rise to insanity in policies that seek to control its creative potential rather than insanity in those who choose to use it instead of legal alcohol which is the root cause of much crime? Why are there many more people in prisons and detention centres for smoking a herb than for committing a violent crime?

These are a few questions that ought to be asked in the backlash created by Thunder, the police dog who with his sterling scent and testimonial bark was permitted to make the ultimate decision that would cause many observers to ask questions and question answers about the erosion of Chris Laurin's rights and freedoms - and everyone else's.

Indeed, Thunder's bark has alerted not only Chris Laurin but also his parents, his fellow-students and their parents, grandparents as well as his aunts, uncles and friends and neighbours. Yes, thank you Thunder, for it was your sterling scent that sent Chris Laurin home thereby stirring a timely awakening and creating an extraordinary opportunity for the 're-education' to begin to address Canada's surreal hypocrisy about using God's herb for recreational and/or medicinal purposes.
