Our people may well be saying the same thing in a few years.

We perceive life largely through the clouded filter of our conditioning and the veil of our incessant thought processes.  We are so conditioned to the abundant free energy provided by cheap oil that we experience it as a birthright, like air.  To suggest that there could be an end (or radical diminution) to something so basic and intergral to our lives is akin to claiming that the earth is flat and the moon is made of green cheese- it just doesn't register on our consciousness.  And like hydrogen bombs, which most of us pay for without so much as a whisper of protest, the impact of the end of cheap oil is really too awful to contemplate, so, we don't.
