Dear Mr. Martin and Mr. Nichols:

I work as a lawyer in Ottawa, and have a personal interest in anti-racism and human rights issues.

I wish to bring to your attention on an urgent basis what appear to be events that have been booked into Mount Zion SDA church in Downsview for the 23^rd and 30^th of April (see their email announcement below). These events have been organized either by an individual named Tom Kennedy, or people working with him.

The reason for my concern is that Mr. Kennedy has a history of organizing so-called “detax” events in unsuspecting public venues. Due to the anti-government conspiracy nature of these events, Mr. Kennedy and his associates have been barred from holding, or cancelled out of their events at the following locations to date that I am aware of. (This statement is NOT true, as I have not been barred from any of these places.)

- Ottawa Centretown Health Centre
- Notre-Dame-de-Grace Church, Montreal
- Lithuanian Hall, Toronto
- First Unitarian Church, Toronto

The event that Mr. Kennedy and his associates attempted to hold in these last two venues is particularly troubling as it was a meeting that was to feature a prominent US Holocaust denier. As you will see from the advertisement sent out by Mr. Kennedy below, the nature of these events are to promote anti-government conspiracy theories.

If either of you saw it last night, the CTV investigative news programme W5 featured a special report on the troubling theories promoted by these so-called “detax” groups who advocate the non-payment of all taxation, and their connections to related groups in the US that have resorted to violence. (The W5 so-called investigative report was a farce.)

If you would like, I would be happy to fax you a copy of an RCMP intelligence report that outlines in greater detail the reasons for concern about these groups.

It is my sincere hope that your church will reconsider whether you wish to host such events in light of the nature of the theories that will be promoted at them.

April 30th Event

On Tuesday night April 30^th at 7:30PM, we have a very interesting Guest speaker! In the past few years, there have been a great number of seminars given on the abusive process of the federal and sometimes provincial governments, on how they ignore the rights of the people guaranteed under common law.

A great wealth of information has been released through these seminars. But the question that is asked is what to do with it once it is received? How does one act on it, and what about the consequences?

Our guest speaker, Jean-Serge: Brisson, is the leader of the Libertarian Party of Canada. He has challenged all 3 levels of governments (fed-prov-mun) on various issues, and shares the experiences of taking on a government. He will relate the consequences and the rewards that can come with it. Jean-Serge has refused to collect GST and PST for the past 11 years and has done so to the point of having stumped both federal and provincial authorities by using the laws that abolish slavery.

Life is full of risks, when you deal with Liberty issues. Is the price to pay worth the challenge? We Say Yes!! Attend the lecture and find out.
