Who Is Jean-Serge Brisson?
Jean-Serge: Brisson, a one-man operator of the Independent Radiator Shop in Embrun, Ontario, has earned a reputation of one of the most respected personalities in the "Detax/Untax/Refusetax" Movement in Canada. Jean-Serge has been a "one-man" freedom fighter since the 1980's. On the political front, he is the Leader of the Libertarian Party of Canada and he sought a seat on the Council for the Township of Russell in Eastern Ontario in the Municipal election on Monday, November 13, 2000.
During the 1990's Dave Brown, an Ottawa Citizen staff writer has written many columns about Jean-Serge: Brisson's "one-man" tax revolution wherein he has refused to collect PST (Provincial Sales Tax) and GST (Goods and Services Tax). Dave referred to Jean-Serge as a "self-styled tax warrior" in a Brown's Beat column in March 1992.
Jean-Serge: Brisson also refused to pay a seat belt fine on principle in the late 1980's. A bureaucrat within the Ontario government suspended his driver's licence for refusing to pay the seat belt fine. Jean-Serge was subsequently ticketed for driving without a licence on numerous occasions. He was summoned to the court house at L'Orignal, Ontario on Friday, November 3, 2000 where Justice Jolicoeur sentenced him to 105 days in prison because he refused to pay the fines imposed upon him by the court. Jean-Serge was a "political prisoner" in "debtor's prison" at the Innes Road Detention Facility in Ottawa, Ontario. He protested his unfair treatment by the Ontario government by going on a hunger strike which he commenced on Friday, November 3, 2000 when he was taken to "debtor's prison."
Currently, Jean-Serge: Brisson is engineering his appeal with the help of Ottawa lawyer Michael Swinwood.

Jean-Serge: Brisson is currently seeking support to launch a political campaign as the Libertarian Party of Canada prepares for the next federal election. Jean-Serge: Brisson, a leader of the Libertarian Party of Canada is prepared to address the 'money issue' up front and centre - which has only been done by the Abolitionist Party of Canada in the 1993 federal election. Hopefully, the Libertarian Party of Canada will advance the ideas that were pioneered by the Abolitionist Party of Canada while they were a duly registered political party from 1993 until 1997.
Some of the best ideas of the Abolitionist Party of Canada have been re-written and presented to the Libertarian Party of Canada. Visit the Libertarian Cyberclassroom at this URL: www.cyberclass.net/twinningliberty&lets.htm
